For Good Friday, I thought I’d give back towards the greater good in whatever aspect I can. Since I’m not fighting on the frontlines as a medical worker and I’m taking the orders seriously to stay at home, I thought a simple practice in art therapy may bring some brightness to a few people. And though the whole point of Uncouth Herbalista is to teach people how to improve their health from a proactive standpoint, adopting a more natural approach to their diet and lifestyle to help keep them out of the sick bays using herbs, food and essential oils – those can only go so far. Mental health in the form of simple stress relief can help the remaining portion.
Attached below are the templates in 5″ x 6.75″ size. Small little paintings, notingDownload them, grab your kids watercolor set [that they’re not using because they’re not in school right now] and sit down with me tomorrow, 4/10 at 10am over in the Facebook group Uncouth Herbalista & Friends to calm your brain.
It doesn’t matter if you think you can’t draw or can’t paint, that doesn’t matter. What matters is you taking a moment to be still in the creative process, still in this world of chaos and brush on some colors to clear your mind and your heart. Bring your kids if you want, let them paint however they’d like. Or just bring your mug of coffee and some much need silence to the paper.
While I paint, I usually meditate on all those things that my heart longs to say. As in one of my favorite verses, Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” I often have prayers to overwhelming to even put into words but He knows your heart, no words needed. And painting or any creative outlet often is a great time to life up those prayers. So join in tomorrow or if that’s not possible, I’ll try to have it posted to view later.
xoxo, Erica
