Soothing, warm, decaffeinated, creamy, slightly sweet, this is one of my favorite chai recipes to go to. It’s so easy – I throw everything into a small crockpot and let it steep. All day if I want.

You can use a combination of your most enjoyed spices but the recipe below is a great jumping point.

Chai is a great pick anytime you’re ill or feel a little twinge in the back of your throat. Antiviral, antibiotic and anti fungal warming spices help to boost your immune gently, clear the throat and warm the body to aid in fighting infection. Mix this up and enjoy throughout the day.
Recipe:
- 3 bags Bigelow Decaf Earl Grey tea
- 4 sticks cinnamon
- 8-10 whole cloves
- 1, 1″ nub of ginger, grated OR 1-2 tsp dried ginger
- 3-4 pods cardamom, crushed OR 1-2 tsp dried cardamom
- 4 cups water
- 4 cups full fat coconut milk OR milk of your choice
- Sweetener of your choice, to taste. I prefer honey for the throat soothing and antibiotic benefits but Stevia, sugar or maple syrup all work.
